Ammaia is the name of an old roman city from the 1st century which lies 2 km besides the golf course that adopted its name. Opened since April 1997, this is the first golf course located in the Alentejo and it was classified the number 7 in the ranking of the most beautiful courses in Portugal, concerning the landscape around, and the course integration in the natural area.

Ammaia lies near the spectacular Marvão village, candidate to World Heritage of UNESCO, and Castelo de Vide, also known by "Sintra of the Alentejo".
