The Americans of Lajes Air Force built the Ilha Terceira Golf Club in 1954. It is located 13 kilometres away from Angra do Heroísmo, and just 10 kilometres from the airport.

The layout is a par 72 (37+35) with a total length of 6,332 yards. The fairways are mostly separated by cryptomerias and the scenery is fascinating.
