Lisbon

There is plenty of good things to say about Lisbon: from its fantastic weather, that brings a special light to the city, its architecture, its very special flavour, fantastic shopping and cosmopolitan flair and nightlife. Ok, now we’ll also introduce you to the Lisbon area, sometimes shadowed by the capital but that cannot be missed in your holidays.

Start visiting Leiria, north of Lisbon, a modern town with a fantastic castle from the 14th century and that is well worth a visit. Traveling further south you’ll find Fátima, the world wide famous pilgrimage site since the virgin of Fátima appeared to three children on several occasions starting in May 1917.

Along the coast you’ll find towns like Caldas da Rainha, Sintra and Cascais. A must-stop is Sintra a town which offers the visitor wonderful views from its many hills topped with fantastic and magical castles. Continuing south, Cascais is an elegant sea-side resort preferred by European nobility and monarchy during the first half of the 20th century; nowadays is a chic and cosmopolitan city just a half hour trip away from Lisbon.

Santarém and Setúbal with the fantastic Troia across the sea, are also worth a visit.
