Designed by legendary architect Sir Henry Cotton, Alto Golf is a challenging course for all handicap levels. Situated west of Portimão near the fishing village of Alvor, the course runs through two valleys and offers a considerable test for golfers with its strategic bunkers, dog-legs, well-placed trees and elevated greens. The lovely Monchique mountains offer a stunning backdrop to the course while mature pine, carob, almond, fig and olive trees line the fairways. The signature hole is the 16th, a 600 metre par-5 known as ‘The Giant’ or ‘Sir Henry’s Challenge’.
