Golf Courses: Beloura Golf Resort
Penha Longa
Situated on the edge of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Penha Longa offers breathtaking championship golf in an enchanting estate steeped in history. Founded as a monastery in 1355, the site became a retreat for the Portuguese royal family in the 16th Century when the Penha Longa Palace was constructed. Offering panoramic views over pine forests and the Sintra mountains, no expense has been spared in developing and maintaining these two courses. In 2009, Penha Longa was recognised in Golf World UK’s Top 100 Golf Courses in continental Europe.
Atlantic course
Exciting at every turn, this 18-hole course was designed on steeply sloping terrain with breathtaking ocean views. One of the best on the European circuit, the elevated greens and interesting water hazards demand a high level of skill from the most experienced players. Extensive changes were made in 2009 including a full irrigation upgrade, bunker renovation and re-seeding of the fairways and tees. The signature hole is the 6th, a par-5 near an elegant Roman aqueduct.
