Cascais Golf Courses

Some of the finest golf courses in Portugal are within easy reach of the Cascais Miragem, and the hotel can arrange for you to enjoy special terms with several of them.

Oitavos Dunes, only 10 minutes away from the Cascais Miragem, has one of the most beautiful courses in Portugal. It is situated in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, close to the Atlantic Ocean, which makes for stunning mountain and distant ocean views from every hole. Designed by the renowned Arthur Hills, the course respects the natural terrain and the sensitive ecosystem in which it finds itself, being only the second in the world to be awarded the “Certified Signature Sanctuary Gold” status.

Challenging, but always playable, the routing is similar to that of links courses in Scotland, with nine holes out and nine in, in a continuous loop. Oitavos Dunes also offers other excellent facilities to learn and to improve your golf. If your short game could benefit from some attention (and whose can’t?), practise on the fairway, double greens, bunkers and rough area close to the clubhouse. Next to the first tee, the driving range is 300 metres long and has 5 target greens. The Clubhouse will delight those with an appreciation for contemporary design. The abundant use of glass and large outdoor areas allow visitors to enjoy views of the beautiful course and surrounds.

Quinta da Beloura
The beautiful setting at the foot of the verdant Sintra Mountains inspired Rocky Roquemore to create the enticing course at Quinta da Beloura, where beautiful mountain views are framed by more than 40,000 trees of different species, the setting making the golf challenges even more agreeable. Water adds to the challenge on many of the holes, the lakes and streams also serving to irrigate the sylvan course. The driving range and putting green offer opportunities to practise and specialised professionals are always available for advice.

The golf shop allows you to stock up on your golfing necessities and you can also rent equipment here. The magnificent clubhouse features an excellent restaurant, which serves traditional Portuguese cuisine. The bar, with a terrace overlooking the course is open until late.

The golf course at the Lisbon Sports Club was opened in 1922 and is an institution in Portugal. Experience the tradition and enjoy the nature found on this historic course. The clubhouse reflects this heritage, being a conversion of the original house on the property. Delight in spectacular views over the course from its terrace and enjoy the excellent restaurant. Additional features include a driving range and putting green and, if you need some distraction from your game, you can enjoy the tennis facilities and swimming pool.

The Belas Golf Club is connected to a residential complex located between the town of Belas and the Vale de Lobos area. Here nature is more than an accessory, the 465 hectare development carefully taking both environmental concerns and the natural beauty of the terrain and setting into account.

The course is acknowledged internationally for its layout. It offers a wide range of different types of holes and requires a more holistic approach: you’ll find that here tactics are at least as important as technique. Irrespective of your handicap, you’ll find it both a challenge and a pleasure. A unique touch here is the personal care you can expect; building on the Portuguese tradition of hospitality, the warm and friendly service will ensure that you remember this course fondly for more reasons than only the golf.
