A hotel in Lisbon can hardly be more central. Right on the vibrant Restauradores Square, the Altis Avenida Hotel is in between the most majestic avenue in Lisbon, the Avenida da Liberdade, and Baixa, the Pombaline centre. There is easy access to the main roads, Lisbon’s excellent Metro has a stop right in front of the hotel, and the Rossio railway station is a minute or two away on foot.
The leisure traveller steps out of the hotel right into the Lisbon he or she has come to see. Perhaps a stroll along the beautiful Avenida da Liberdade and then through the Parque Eduardo VII to see the spectacular view from the top? Or a walk through Baixa, the testament to the Marques de Pombal’s reconstruction of this area after the great earthquake of 1755? And from here Lisbon’s chicest area, Chiado and then the bohemian Bairro Alto, especially animated by night and filled with restaurants and bars? Or in the other direction to see the cathedral and the castle? Being able to explore on foot right from your hotel will allow you to see everything your guidebook suggests, and make your own personal discoveries. And for sights a little further way, such as those in Belém and the Parque das Nações, you’ll find easy, direct transportation from most probably the best served public transport spot in Lisbon.
The business traveller will enjoy the easy access and find him or herself minutes away from most of the important businesses in Lisbon, while being able to appreciate the beautiful city centre and the wonderful restaurants and bars close to the hotel.
